Building Strong & Healthy Neighborhoods through Service
LISC Rhode Island is a proud participant in the AmeriCorps program. A partner since 1994, we have recruited more than 140 AmeriCorps members who have served in 22 community-based organizations across the state.
LISC Rhode Island AmeriCorps members are an invaluable asset to our community partners. Our members organize after school and summer programs, renovate homes for low-income families, provide counseling and care to residents at homeless shelters, offer homeownership education and foreclosure prevention services and strengthen community engagement through neighborhood events.
LISC AmeriCorps is part of the National Service Network which is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). Established by an act of Congress in 1993, and reauthorized as the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act in 2009, CNCS is dedicated to enabling Americans to engage in “seasons of service” and supports a range of national and community service projects.
