Description: SNAP is a federally funded, government assistance program that helps low-income households pay for nutritious food using an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. SNAP can assist households with children, legal immigrants, seniors and disabled members. Each month benefits are directly deposited onto the household’s EBT account, the amount of benefit depends on the household size, income, and expenses. These benefits can then be used to pay for food at supermarkets and convenience stores, as well as some farmer’s markets and food co-ops.
